The 1932 Freeport hurricane was a severe tropical cyclone. The storm happened in August 1932. It mostly affected certain areas of the Upper Texas coast.[1]
It was the second storm and first hurricane of the season. It developed near the Mexican Yucatán Peninsula on August 12. As it moved to the northwest, it began to get stronger the next day. It fastly went from a Category 1 hurricane to a Category 4. Winds got as high as 150 mph (240 km/h).
The storm struck near Freeport, Texas as a Category 4 with maximum sustained winds of 150 mph.
The storm caused heavy rainfall inland. Rainfall peaked at 9.93 inches near Angleton.
There were 40 deaths from the hurricane.
